SUPPLY CHAIN FINANCE EM PEQUENAS E MÉDIAS EMPRESAS: UM ESTUDO NO SETOR DE PANIFICAÇÃO BRASILEIRO
Abstract
The increased competitiveness in the industrial bakery sector has made it essential to analyze the financial relationships between the links of their supply chains. To this end, companies have adopted the Supply Chain Finance (SCF), which aims to reduce the risk of financing by improving the working capital. However, the adoption of SCF practices is usually neglected by small and medium enterprises (SME’s), which face difficulties when it comes to obtain financing from financial institutions. Therefore, this study’s objective is to identify the main barriers to financing SME’s in the Brazilian bakery sector and their degree of maturity towards SFC practices. To achieve it, a structured questionnaire was developed and sent by email to organizations of this segment. The results showed that the main barriers are the high cost of credit and excessive bureaucracy, associated to the risk of indebtedness. Also, there is still little maturity regarding SCF practices, justified by the rare monitoring of any financial performance indicator associated to the supply chains in which the companies are inserted.
