REQUALIFICATION OF THE MUNICIPAL GARDEN “PROFESSOR PhD. KIKO” WITH EMPHASIS ON THE ECOLOGICAL TRAIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION-EE
Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to propose improvements in the Horto Municipal “Professor PhD. Kiko”, attractiveness, assistive and educational technologies aimed at expanding the role of this municipal green area on the Environmental Education (EA) and for recreational and contemplative activities. To this end, visitings to the existing trail were conducted, conversations were held with those responsible and a bibliographic review on the subject was carried out, in addition to a drone aircraft flights to plan and validate the proposals presented. To improve the accessibility of the trail for people with reduced mobility, the installation of a new floor was recommended. Another proposal presented was the installation of signs printed in relief, by Grafia Braille, with the identification of the species and indicating the existing enclosures: meliponary, nursery and museum, providing interactivity with the visually impaired. The appreciation of the Sensory Garden and the installation of the QR Code (Quick Response Code – two-dimensional barcode), as well as other suggestions presented may facilitate interaction and information about the species, even allowing the self-guided tour, without the need of a guide, since the track would become self-explanatory. In order to do such improvements, the Municipal Garden would be better sign posted and more pleasant, expanding its functions and allowing the population to enjoy direct contact with nature and develop a sense of belonging to the Municipal Garden.
