Abstract

According to Agência SEBRAE (2021), the pandemic, lack of working capital and low sales volume were the three main causes for the closing of small businesses in Brazil in 2020. profit maximization, in order to contribute to the longevity of the business. The objective of this work is to identify the influence of storage optimization on the costs of a small cake company. Evaluating the possibilities of lean inventories and bringing a range of products that are more profitable can contribute to the company's performance. A quantitative and descriptive research was carried out, through a case study in a small cake company located in Guarulhos, São Paulo. The analyzes were carried out using the solver software. The results obtained make it possible to optimize the company's production, in order to make it possible to reduce the quantities used, reduce production costs and maximize profit in the batch produced. The use of the solver software proved to be an adequate tool for suggesting improvements in the Heli-Bolos company. The results obtained contribute to the optimization of small cake companies, indicating the optimization of the batch to be produced, reducing costs and maximizing profits. In this sense, other small business owners may benefit from the findings described. Academically, this case study can contribute to the generalization of knowledge about the optimization obtained with operational research, especially with the solver tool.
