APOIO PARA ACAMADOS EM PVC: TECNOLOGIA ASSISTIVA DE FÁCIL REPLICAÇÃO
Abstract
With the advancement of medicine and technology, it is very important to be aware of the needs of patients to preserve their well-being and health, especially those who are bedridden. Typically, patients who are bedridden for some reason end up suffering when moving around, even because they stay in the same position for a long time, they end up feeling more pain. The objective of this study was to present the process of creating a support for bedridden people, using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubes as the main raw material. The methodology used was experimental research of an exploratory nature, through a case study. A partnership was established between Fatec Jahu and an oncology hospital in the City of Jaú, State of São Paulo, among the methodological stages the following stand out: technical visit; analysis of similar products; semi-structured interview with the occupational therapist at the aforementioned hospital, prototyping and testing. A prototype was made in PVC and the product was tested for 2 months in the palliative care area within the hospital itself. The results were satisfactory according to the Occupational Therapist (OT) of the hospital participating in the research.
